My dear Marcet:

I am in the hospital today with Eri who has just lost his tonsils, so perhaps you will let me tell you in pencil how much the entire family and settlement enjoyed your [new year?] fruit box] [illegible] seemed to be [illegible] and to the [members?] and [illegible] of them and we were [illegible]. You were more generous [illegible] and we are all very grateful. All of the four Linns were [at] Xmas dinner & all of the seven little Linns save Bipps who had a bad cold & stayed at home. [page 2]

I go to Washington tomorrow and have gone so much the last two trips east, to see you at the end of the journey, that I shall be quite homesick for you.

With every possible good wish for a happy & prosperous New Year I am always your loving aunt
