My dear Mrs Ewing
I am spending the day at the hospital with my little nephew who has just had his tonsils removed, so that perhaps you will let me write you from here to thank Mr Ewing and yourself for the gay plant which came on Xmas to the great delight of all of us.
You were most kind to think of us this year [page 2] when you were so occupied with a wedding in the family. I like to think of you in that charming home as it looked that beautiful winter's day.
With every possible good wish for the New Year to your entire household, I am
Faithfully yours Jane Addams
P.S. My patient is asleep & doing finely.
