My dear Dr. Dietrich,
Getrud Baer has written me about your very great kindness of making preparations for a reception at the Social [Womens] School on September 11th. I am sure she has written you about the enforced change of plans which my health has necessitated but I wish to write you personally of my deep regret that I am not able to come to the school.
After a rather severe illness in England I have been forbidden by the doctor to undertake lecturing and other engagements for several months and I have been obliged to cut off those in Switzerland as well as those in Germany.
I have always been very much interested in Dr. Alice Salomon’s School which I visited twice. All social workers in America very much admire the training given there.
We are to have one of your pupils, Miss Harneck, at Hull House this fall and are looking forward to it with much pleasure.
