My dear Miss Addams,

We ought to forbid you to go to these oriental countries again! It is too bad to think that you have been infected in some way or another in Mexico. When I came home from my trips with Mrs. Catt through Africa & Asia I was very ill as a result of a germ I brought from Japan. It took several months before I was better.

I hope you will be very careful now and become strong and healthy soon so that we may expect to see you in Europe next year at our next W.I.L. meeting.

The Intern. Council members [page 2] have had a better reception in the White House than we have had last year. When Mr. & Mrs. Coolidge shook hands with me and Mrs. C. said "O, I am so glad to meet Dr. Jacobs personally." I should have liked to say, that I was the same Dr. J. of whom Mr. C. was so much afraid last year. But there was no time to say much, and that was perhaps good for me.

Yes, I feel so sorry not to be able to come to Hull House, but I sail on May 19th, there is no time.

I saw Miss Wald before her operation. She looked very ill, but the letters I receive now from her secretary are very hopeful and before I sail I shall see her in the hospital.

I hope, dear Miss Addams, you will have a good rest this summer and let the sun in Bar Harbor kill all the awful germs which trouble you now so much.

With much love to you and all dear friends in Hull House, lovingly yours
Aletta H. Jacobs
