My dear Alice --
I am going to Washington D.C. some day this week -- I hope not until Wednesday evening -- for a Peace meeting to be held there on Sunday Jan'y tenth. I expect to be back on the 12th, but if you should reach Chicago before I do, you will find my room [page 2] all-ready for you, with a bed for Marcet either on the sofa in the bedroom or sitting room as she prefers.
I hope to be back early in the morning, Alice Hamilton is away and I will settle down with Clara Landsberg in her bed.
All your things are in the large bottom drawer of [page 3] the row between the two rooms -- and I am sure you will find the entire household most eager to welcome you.
With love to Marcet & to you, Dear
Always your loving sister
