Dear Miss Addams:

The Board of Directors and officers of The China Society of America extend to you an invitation to become a member of the Society.

The China Society is an organization incorporated for the purpose of bringing about a better understanding between the peoples of China and the United States, the development of a larger interest in China's art and a deep understanding of the great philosophy China's civilization offers to the world; to introduce into the textbooks of American schools more accurate knowledge of China, to encourage more extensive trade relations and to foster a spirit of peace with the Orient.

Active membership carries with it a year's complimentary subscription to the magazine "Asia," our own bulletin "CHINA" and other privileges.

We shall take pleasure in placing your name on our membership list if you will sign and return the enclosed blank with check to cover membership dues.

Cordially yours,

THE CHINA SOCIETY OF AMERICA
J G Harbord [signed]
J. G. HARBORD
President.
