I feel I must write you some lines in order to thank you from all my heart, that you are coming to Bremen in September. I am so glad to see you there, double as much, as I was not able to join the congress in Dublin. We all from the Bremen Branch of the International Women's League are so happy, knowing you our dear guest on the 13th of Sept. We have a [page 2] [comfortable] room with bath for you at our best Hotel-Hillmann, where all [Americans] use to live when being at Bremen. I should like you so very much to be my dear guest for dinner at two o'clock, only with Gertrud Baer. I hope, you won't be too much tired, to do me this [favor]? Of course you may rest directly after dinner at our house or at our house or at Hillmanns, just as you wish to do. I have an a car [at] your disposition for all the time you are staying at Bremen, and distances are not very great. The Senate of Bremen, our government you know, should like to give you a reception at the Rathaus or in the evening at our assembly it was not quite clear, when we left Bremen a fortnight ago! If the weather is good and you are well enough and have a mind to do so, I should like very much to have a drive with you in the afternoon, to show you something of our town.
The subject we wish you to speak about at the Reception in the evening is an ethical one, as Gertrud Baer will have told you: [Welche kulturaufgabe pedart aur dringendsten der midderbeit der Frau?] Let me try to translate! Which work of culture needs most the help of women? I fear my translation is not very English! [page 3]
I know many women who would not ↑be↓ fascinated by a pure peace problem, ↑but↓ will come when we announce this one. Of course you may speak just as you like and tell us as much of peace as you will be able to do, also of your experiences in the Orient. And if you will include some thing of your [Peace Work] at Hull-House, it would be a very good thing. I wrote two long articles concerning Hull-House some weeks ago: one for our Bremen Press, one for the "Frau [der] Gegenwart" at Hamburg, the journal of [an] the united women’s [organization].
