To Miss Jane Addams.

Dear Miss Addams

I regret more than I can say that the arrival of the remains of Peter Golden in Cobh and his funeral in Cork on Wednesday prevents me attending as I had hoped to do, during your Congress week in Dublin.

It will I hope prove an interesting visit to you all, and productive of much good.

As I think you know already I am of the opinion, and it grows stronger every day, that the steps to peace are useless unless the first one is justice to the small and weak, whether the big ones like it or not. [page 2]

I hope to be in Dublin on Friday and trust you will be still in our Capital as it would give me much pleasure to meet you again.

Meantime, with kind regard and a warm welcome to our Ireland

Believe me

yours sincerely

Mary Mac Swiney
