My dear Mrs Ewing --

I hoped to see you and the family ↑stopping at Lake Forest en route to Washington,↓ before I left, but every thing was rather hurried at the end by the fact that I went east early to receive a degree at Tufts College -- so the things that I most wanted to do were left undone.

We are off to an International [page 2] settlement congress in Paris then a Peace [Conference] in Dublin & then a Summer School at Geneva -- but I hope to see you in September and that you are going to have a fine summer.

Mary Smith who is now in Sicily meets us July 1st. She has had [illegible] asthma in sunny Italy so we hope rainy Ireland may treat her better. With affectionate greetings to the entire family, I am always devotedly yours

Jane Addams.
