Dear Friend:

The China Medical Boat is a medical work carried on in the spirit of the Fellowship of Reconciliation. The group of Americans and Chinese engaged in this work are seeking through better [interracial] understanding to do away with war and exploitation.

On my way to the coast to sail for China, I am stopping off at various places to lecture on the following subjects:

The Present Situation in China, a review of the unjust treatment of the Chinese by the White Race and the present reaction in China against imperialism and exploitation interpreting the spiritual vision of world brotherhood held by the youth movement.

A Trail to the Heart of China describes travel in the interior and the winning of the hearts of the Chinese brigands through kindness.

Medical work in China tells of the need of modern methods in sanitation and hygiene.

I shall be in your vicinity in the month of ↑last of April and May.↓

Let me know what dates will be convenient. Expenses to be paid. Collection taken for the work.

Let me hear from you soon.

Cordially yours,

Elisabeth Shapleigh, M.D. [signed]
