Biographical Text

Florence Larrabee was born and raised in Rochester, NY, where her father was a professor. Lattimore was a part of the investigating staff of the Pittsburgh Survey and the associate director for the Department of Child Helping of the Russell Sage Foundation. She wrote on the subjects such as charities and child care. Lattimore also worked for the Seybert Institution for Poor Boys and Girls and was a member of the investigator Committee on Physical Welfare of School Children. In 1915, she sailed on Henry Ford's Peace Ship as a journalist for The Survey. She died in 1956, just before the publication of her children's book Alice & Jumbo.
