Dear Cousin Jane,

I thank you so much for the copy of your book which you sent me. It has been forwarded from New York and just came [to] us here. I had been reading notices of it, and was expecting to get a copy on my return. How lovely it is to have this copy come here from you with what you have written in it! You know, I hope, that it is quite impossible for me to tell you how much my “Cousin Jane” means to me. I have never given up the hope that sometime I can accept your invitation, and spend a week, or the best of it, in or near [page 2] Hull House.

At present I am here for several weeks, hoping to get a chance for a little thinking and writing, and also having a rest with Mother and Tom and his family.

Ever yours,
Gilbert Addams Beaver
