Chicago.
My dear Marcet
I am writing this note by Mary Smith's bed who has broken six ribs according to the findings of the XRay. She is however getting better and I hope will not be sent south until after your trip to Chicago. If you have "[Bones]" copied, please send me one, I should love to read it aloud to my invalid. We are all quite [frantic?] to see Henry, his pictures are so enticing. [page 2] I had a very good time in Topeka, in Freeport and finally [ended the schedule] time in Iowa and at home. I have been fearfully busy in the two days here getting off the last page proof of my book which I am not sure should ↑ever↓ have been written! A pleasant state of mind to be in after it is finished!
I have been quite homesick for you and Alice since I [shipped] off at Topeka & [page 3] am much comforted by the thought of seeing you both so soon.
Please give my love to Alice and to all the other members of the family in which Mary Smith joins me. Always yrs devoted Aunt Jane.
