Miss Jane Addams,
Hull House,
Chicago, Illinois.

Dear Miss Addams:-

Thank you for your letter of the 24th.  Your book does you great credit, and I am proud to have my name associated with the book as editor of the Series in which it appears.  I believe that the book is going to render a very valuable public service, and I think that it was well worth while.

I have leave of absence the second semester.  I am expecting to spend some time in Chicago with Mrs. Ely and I shall hope [page 2] while there to see you from time to time.

Faithfully yours,

Richard T. Ely [signed]
