Biographical Text

Charles Frederick Weller was a social worker and founder of Neighborhood House, a settlement in Washington, DC. He and his wife founded the first public playground in Washington, leading to the establishment of the Playground and Recreation Association of America. The Wellers authored books on social work, and Charles Weller served as a Presidential appointee to a housing commission.

Weller married Eugenia Weller in 1902. They had two children. He died in 1957.
