Biographical Text

H.G. Wells was an English novelist best known for his science fiction novels, which include The War of the Worlds and The Time Machine. After many apprenticeships, Wells won a scholarship to study biology at the Normal School (now the Royal College) of Science, and he later graduated from London University in 1888. He advocated for social equality, world peace, and the future good of humanity, which appeared in his later writings.

Wells married Isabel Mary Wells in 1891. After their divorce, he married Amy Catherine Robbins in 1895. Wells had four children, two of which were with writers Amber Reeve and Rebecca West. Wells died in 1946.
