Mackinac Island
Aug 23d 1917
My dear Marcet
Clara Landsberg and I arrived yesterday morning after a very comfortable journey.
It is as cool and pleasant as possible up here, the island of course is not as beautiful as Mt Desert but nevertheless curiously like it. The Hamiltons have been in this cottage for many years and have friends everywhere. [page 2]
Clara and I talk a great deal about her godchild and [have] many hopes for her future. I am sure she is flourishing and I hope all her kinsfolk are equally well and happy. With love to the household, Always your loving aunt
Jane Addams
P.S. Poor Mrs. Thompson was buried on Monday afternoon.
