My dear Miss Addams:
Thank you for your last letters. They gave me quite a new lease on life.
May I say just a word more about the publicity and finance? I came from the board meeting much disgusted with myself for not having stated my views clearly. We need a great deal more money and I should like to see an active chairman of finance get to work at once to raise it before we go abroad. Most of this money should be spent on publicity. The main purpose of the Congress would not be achieved if the various problems brought before it were not being simultaneously being considered by the women of all countries. I believe that careful publicity, planned so as to report the proceedings of the Congress quickly and completely to all the women of this country, is most requisite for success. This will require both money and [organization].
I hope to hear all about your Washington experience when you come to us the end of this month. I expect to see Mrs. Moore tomorrow and will write at once the result of my interview.
I enclose a check for $400. to be sent to Mrs. Jacobs.
