Dear Mrs. Blaine: --
Last year about this time you very kindly contributed to our Hull-House Outing Fund which is used for sending children to the country. We shall be very grateful if you will renew your subscription this year.
Hull-House now owns a beautiful country place at Waukegan, Illinois, consisting of seventy-two acres and it costs five dollars to keep a child there for two weeks. Could you but see the eagerness with which the little people flock to Hull-House as soon as the weather becomes warm, piteously begging to be sent to the country, you would appreciate how tremendously this outing is needed.
In many cases the fresh air, good food and kindly care given [anemic], underfed town children means a new start towards health, and in addition to the physical gain it is often the child's very first experience of country life and, as such, contributes to his happiness and moral development.
