Dear Miss Addams:
Six weeks ago I came to Chicago, intending to find work and to live here indefinitely.
On August 18 I had the good fortune to occupy a room at Hull House, the same room I had eleven years ago!
Mrs. Hicks advised me that on October 1st my room was already engaged by another resident. She added that you were the person to decide whether I could have a room here, after September 30.
If you wish, and can let [page 2] me stay without infringing on the rights of other residents, you know how greatly I would appreciate the privilege of associating with people who, like you, possess noble and uplifting ideals, and who, moreover, were friends of or acquainted with my beloved Mother. Whatever you will decide in this matter, I shall gladly accept, because you are always just and wise.
Faithfully yours,
Guido Mariotti
