January 14, 1927.

My dear Mr. Brownell,

I have convalesced rather slowly from a heart difficulty of last Summer and am, therefore, being sent South to the Gulf in the early Spring. We are leaving Chicago about the 20th of February and will be gone through March and probably into the first week in April.

I am very much mortified ↑to be obliged↓ to ask you if I might change my date of March 9th, but I am afraid I shall have to ask that favor.

With real regret and hoping that it will be possible to change my date with someone else, I am

Faithfully yours,

Jane Addams. [signed]

Mr. Baker Brownell,

Medill School of Journalism,
Evanston, Illinois.
