WOMEN'S INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE FOR PEACE AND FREEDOM

Hulls Cove Maine -- Aug 19" 1927

My dear Stanley

I have sent a box to you this time, the golf sweater (like those being worn at Bar Harbor!) is for you, the neck piece for Myra, the two linens for the house and the two ↑[[sweet] [illegible]↓ pillows for the little girls -- But it is really all yours to dispense as you please because it is a birthday box.

About the little check each month, it gives me a great deal of pleasure to send it, and I promise not to do it when it becomes a burden, but I should like you to be quite free from worry for at least one [illegible] a month! [page 2]

About the first of December I hope to send you $500.00 for a Christmas present, to help on those bank notes, or if you prefer towards a new car. I am telling you now because you may want to make plans. My check doesn't come in from Macmillan until the end of November, but I do want to modify those horrid notes which I can quite [see are] necessary and inevitable but are a burden all the same.

Jane's letters were so nice, give my love to her & kisses to the little kids.

Always your loving Aunt Jane Addams

P.S. Please tell Myra that Jane's blue-green sweater didn't turn out very well [illegible words]
