Jane [Addams]

Dear Friend:

Enclosed is a copy of a letter from the wife of Gilbert Bowles in Tokyo, which is self-explanatory. I am wondering if there was some way whereby this young lady could make her home in Hull House and take some special work in Social Service Work at the same time; this would greatly assist in her expenses while she is over here, and no doubt our Committee would feel like finding the rest of the amount needed. I am sending this, therefore, to find out whether or not you think there is a way whereby she could be cared for in Chicago.

Yours sincerely,

Wilbur K. Thomas. [signed]
