My dear dear Ida Lovett --
How we do miss you in this house!
I wish you could know the love and respect with which your name is surrounded ↑in almost daily conversation.↓ I always have said that H.H. was uncanny in its capacity to reward character if one only gave it time. You have more than ever convinced me of the truth of this.
I do hope that you had an attractive journey and that the ↑islands↓ seems to you as you remembered them. There are three or four spots near Honolulu that I think I will never forget and I [page 2] wish that I might see them again with you.
We are starting off tonight for the annual meeting of the W.I.L. in Cleveland. Florence Jennison and I go on together. Mrs Taussig who had dinner here last evening went on with Ella Boynton. The entire Philadelphia sisterhood are coming. I go late but I hope to stay to the end. I am so very much better for my California experience that I hope by next fall to be quite all right!
The W.I.L. has been going very well with little Jennison as sec'y and we are going to have a fine booth at the Woman's World's Fair. How we shall miss you [getting] that ready & every day that it lasts!
I still sleep at Mary Smith's but I am here quite regularly and with [illegible] office hours, so that it is better than it was in the fall when you were so good in helping out. [page 3]
In addition to the [illegible] bequest we have one in N.Y. which the lawyers have decided must go to the Intl. and may be $20,000.00. We are all quite excited over the prospect and full of suggestions for spending it!
Please give my love to the daughters and to the granddaughter, are you coming back in June? I hope before we leave for Maine. Do write me the dates when you know them. I shall not take another trip such as we made in California!
Give my love to Mrs. Graves if you see her. I hope she will be there next summer for our meeting which seems to grow more indefinite as the time draws near! Always and forever yours devotedly Jane Addams.
