My dear Mr. Maddox,

The Carnegie people are pass my ↑all↓ understanding. I was told distinctly that they could do nothing for Hull-House, but would be charmed to consider favorable any college which I recommend. And here we are. I am very sorry.

I am sending a few more books not to count in towards the chair endowment, but purely and simply to help out the library.
