Dear Dorothy Detzer --
Our letters seem to have crossed so I am answering your last two separately. I am [enclosing] a list which has just come from Geneva -- I think you will have to straighten the matter out with them. I should much prefer to have the U.S.A. sections branches collect all the dues and send them on through the international fund I have at Chicago. It is almost the only way we can keep it up. If you have the complete list you can arrange about the renewals with the branches [illegible] and I think ↑you↓ should also have the correspondence with Geneva about it, perhaps it would be well to wait until Miss Surles returns. [page 2]
I am sure we will soon get it straightened out and that it is much better for the Geneva office to be sure of $500.00 a month which we are now sending than to have the dues come in irregularly -- some months nothing at all.
I do hope that Washington isn't insufferably hot. I have just written to Mrs Hull that I could attend a meeting of the Ex. Com of the W.I.L. in Sept after the annual meeting of the Fellowship of Reconciliation which takes place in Baltimore Sept 11th 12th and 13th.
I was enormously interested in what you wrote me of your brother's statement. I suspect that is the reason all the Washington Depts are so [furious] about all passports just now.
Affectionately yours Jane Addams
