My dear Miss Addams --

Thank you very much indeed for the interesting etching you sent me. Now that we are living in a country where there are few people of foreign race I like especially to be reminded by such sketches as you sent this year and once or twice before of the many-peopled regions of Chicago which [page 2] we love so well. It was dear of you to think of us in your busy days.

We are both well and happy in our new home. We especially rejoice in the opportunity we now have of sharing in the activities and fellowship of Friends House. I have begun to work on the Hospitality Committee, which is composed of other organizations (W.I.L., Holiday Fellowship, etc.) as well as the Quakers. The purpose of this [page 3] committee is to find families in England where the young people of other countries who want to come to England can stay. Most of these are German and the majority want to come as paying guests for a few weeks or months. There are some girls who want to help in the house or act as governesses ↑in return↓ for their board. It is very interesting work. Occasionally there are English people who want to go abroad, but unfortunately not nearly as many as there are Germans [page 4] wanting to come here.

We were delighted to find an article about you and Hull House in "The Friend" recently signed E. R. T. I would like to meet that person when he or she returns to England.

Mother joins me in much love and warmest good wishes always. How we did miss the Hull House Christmas music this year!

Yours affectionately

Frieda Maynard
