Jane Addams to William Arthur Maddox, April 3, 1926

My dear Dr. Maddox:

My friend, Miss Emily Balch, who taught economics at [Wellesley] for more than twenty years has a very good economic library which she has offered to give to Rockford College as part of the “Jane Addams Chair” fund.

If she should send it on from [Wellesley] could the librarian take care of it or is the small space too crowded to add a lot of books. It seems to me better to have them listed by the librarian in Rockford. I should be glad to add books from my own library here if I found I could complete in certain directions.
