My dear Mr Kellogg;
I thought that you had given up printing the [enclosed] article, it is quite obviously a speech, with a material which was current in June and is so no longer and with all the lack of plan which a speech permits but not an article. I think that you must certainly make an explanation as to where and when it was given. I frankly don’t like it and was much relieved when I thought it had been dropped.
I tried another article but it was so far from finished this morning that I am sending these correction in case you think that it must go on.
I am putting it on the 20th Century which reaches New York at nine in the morning ↑before the dead line.↓
I am growing better but am not up any very consecutive efforts as yet.
Hastily yours,
Jane Addams [signed]
