Miss Jane Addams,

Chicago, Ill.

My dear Miss Addams:

I am enclosing herewith a copy of a letter I am writing to Mr. Kennedy which explains itself. I am sorry that it is so long. I only have time to dictate it hurriedly and send it off. I should appreciate your candid opinion very much.

I rather wish this question had not come up, and that we had simply drifted on, but now since it is up I suppose we must face it.

Very sincerely yours,

Charles C. Cooper. [signed]
