My dear Miss Addams:

Our mutual friend Mrs. Tucker tells me that you may be induced to give our library a set of your books. Of course, this would be deeply appreciated by all of us at the college. We hope that you would write on the fly leaf of each volume a brief message to the college that they may be included in our memorabilia.

On my return from a trip this morning I was told that you had sent us a very valuable book which will be placed on display tomorrow. I have not had the privilege of examining it, but our librarian is very enthusiastic. May I thank you very informally for your thoughtfulness?

I am wondering whether you read the first two sections of our bulletin describing the quality and quantity growth of the college since the World War. The data have been attracting so much attention among the experts that I have been forced to give out additional information about our accomplishments. This must make your heart glad, as it encourages us all to greater effort.

With best wishes, I am

Cordially yours,

Miss Jane Addams,
Hull House,
Chicago, Ill.
