LEL

LEAGUE FOR THE ABOLITION OF CAPITAL PUNISHMENT
A National Organization
135 EAST 15th STREET
NEW YORK
January 24, 1926.

Dear Friend:

As a member of our National Committees of the League for the Abolition of Capital Punishment, we know you will be interested in the opening meeting of the New York Campaign, to be held at Wallack's Theater, January 31, 1926.

The purpose of this meeting is two-fold: to advertise the campaign and to raise funds for it. As you know, we can do as much during this session of the Legislature of New York, as we can raise the money for. Up to the present time a few men and women have borne the whole burden of this organization.

Our determination to end the death penalty in New York State is not a losing fight. It is a winning fight. The spirit of our time, scientific and religious thought, are all on our side. The necessity is to convince our [lawmakers] and our representatives that the people of this and other states stand behind this demand.

If you cannot be present at this meeting, will you not make the most generous contribution possible to the New York Campaign?

Seats on the stage will be reserved for members of our Committees. When buying your ticket ask for a reserved stage seat.

Thanking you for your support,
Sincerely yours,
Lewis E. Lawes [signed]
Senator Royal S. Copeland, New York, will preside at this meeting.
