My dear Madame Schwimmer:

Alas, I have no method of approaching Mr. Ford and no way of getting at him at all save through the Holts and I do not really know what their present relation to Mr. Ford is.

I am very glad to have seen the report of Mr. Lochner's book in the Times and am returning both that and the reply. The ↑misleading↓ quotations from me were evidently taken from my book "Peace And Bread In Time of War," and which I wrote as honestly as I could. I suppose Mr. Lochner did the same, but certainly the impression I got from his book was not the same as that [set] forth by the reviewer in the Times.

I am enclosing a bunch of criticisms which I have just received from New York and Boston showing that the whole attitude changes very slowly. I should be glad to have the clippings returned for filing.

I did not see Rose Manus when she was in the United States and ↑and am awfully sorry for the incident.↓ I left the material about [Gertrud] Woker with Emily Balch and I am asking her to send it to you. ↑I am so glad that she seems better. I am still tied to my room but hope to be better soon.

Hastily yrs.↓
