My dear Miss Addams: --
May I through you express in some small part our appreciation of the lovely cut flowers which came from the Residents and did so much to make Aunt Ella's funeral the beautiful thing it was? We, of course, know that it was done for one who has meant much in the lives of all of you but nevertheless we, as the sole representatives of her family [page 2] would like to have you all know how deeply we felt, not only the flowers but the thoughtfulness and consideration for us during all those days, from each and every one.
As for yourself words fail me when I want to express what I feel about every thing you did and your lovely wreath was just one more thing to add. All I can say is that all your unselfish consideration [page 3] was just like you, and I want you to know that I fully understand just how hard this whole thing has been for you for aside from your fondness for Aunt Ella it must be a bitter thing for you to see your old associates leaving you one by one and new ones come up to take their places. Your little talk at the funeral was, because it was yours, just the right thing said in just the right way and we are both deeply grateful to you. I only hope that some time I may be able to express my appreciation in some more tangible way.
yours most sincerely
Muriel Walcott Waite
