Dear Miss Addams:

When you make your address before the Chicago Ethical Society, on October eighth I think it will sufficiently safeguard the material for us, if you will make a special request to the press representatives not to reprint any of the body of your address, but simply to use a short summary which you had before prepared yourself. If you dictate a few paragraphs to your stenographer summarizing the subject you take in this article giving a copy to each reporter, I think that will avert the risk we should otherwise be running.

Very cordially yours,

 S. S. McClure [signed]

Miss Jane Addams,
Hull's Cove,
Maine.
