YOUNG MEN'S CHRISTIAN ASSOCIATION OF SHANGHAI

120 SZECHUEN ROAD, SHANGHAI

May 5, 1923.

Dear Miss Addams:

This is to confirm the arrangement made in our conversation this morning for a meeting particularly for Chinese leaders to be addressed by you in the Martyr's Memorial Hall, Thursday evening, May 10, at eight o'clock. We find that there is no general meeting of the National Christian Council for that evening. The meeting on the schedule is for Chinese members only, and is a small group of about forty.

Mr. Hoh desires that this address be through interpretation, so as to provide our Chinese leaders, many of whom do not understand English, an opportunity to hear a message from you. He suggests that you speak some such subject as: "Some experiences in social work in Chicago." We will, of course, see that a competent interpreter is available.

Thanking you very much for your consideration in this matter, and wishing for you a profitable and pleasant trip to Hangchow.

Yours faithfully,

W. W. Lockwood [signed]
