My dear Esther --
We had a very comfortable journey and I found that I had a very delightful [traveling] companion.
She seems to like it very much here and fits in to all the plans very easily and happily.
If I don't take her on to New Orleans, Mrs Niver, Mary's friend will and in any case [page 2] we will have her see New Orleans.
She seems better as to the nervous movements, but she does not sleep very well and I am anxious to have that improve.
Mary sends her love to you & congratulations upon having such a charming daughter.
