Dear Miss Addams

I have just had your book reviewed for the North American Review, and now I should be glad if you would kindly consent to review Prof Thomas's "Sex and Society" for me. I have read the book, and I feel that it ought to be treated by a woman, and one who like yourself is a practical student [page 2] of sociology. Indeed, I am so set on having you review this book that I shall be keenly disappointed if you refuse. But please consider it favorably, as the book seems to me of sufficient importance in and by itself, as well as because of its problem which must interest you mightly. About fifteen hundred words will do.

If you haven't a copy of the book, I can send you one.

Yours Sincerely
James MacArthur

Miss Jane Addams
