Miss Jane Addams,
Hull House, Chicago, Illinois.

My dear Miss Addams:

Thank you very much for forwarding the letter from Miss Grace Darling. I do not find her name upon any of our catalogs and I am writing to her to that effect.

I have wanted to tell you of the splendid success the Illinois letter is bringing. We have already about 25 new subscribers. [illegible words]. Most of them, of course, are $1.00 members, but we have had several $3.00 and two or three $5.00 subscriptions. I believe by the next time the legislature meets in Illinois the organization will be strong for very effective work.

I hope very much that you will be coming up to Madison this summer for the Ethical Culture School. Your visit last summer gave us a great deal of pleasure and we shall look forward to a renewal this year. Madison is so beautiful now that I have frequently wished you might come up for a day or two. Is this an utter impossibility?

 Most sincerely yours,
