Dear Sister Kelley

A word J Lathrop dropped quite teased me about your plans -- that perhaps you would not go.

I can't believe that our hectic time in Washington had any thing to do with your decision. While we had the U.S. passport on Wednesday at four, we didn't have the [illegible] French visé until the next ↑Thursday↓ afternoon and sent off the letter from the steam ship office as soon as we knew about the visés. I should have telegraphed there of course if I had your home address, but we counted on your getting the letter at your office next morning. You could have nothing that [wrecks?] it [illegible] so long [as the?] [missing text] [page 2]

Please don't give up going, so many good people are falling off that it would quite break my heart to lose you.

We are having awful complications with Dr Jacobs and must have some good old scouts to stand by. Mrs. Mumford writes that there is still a place on the Noordam [illegible] ↑which she is holding --↓ [although] I hope you have one already.

Always devotedly yours

J Addams

Mrs Mumford is with Miss Safford this week.
