My dear Mrs. Forbes:
On my return from California I find your letter of March sixteenth giving me the name selected by the Massachusetts Branch. It seems to me a most happy selection and I am sure that ↑our↓ most successful Branch will continue to prosper under its auspices.
I am just back from California having returned via Texas, New Orleans and Alabama, speaking under the auspices of the Food Administration. I found it most interesting meeting people on this new appeal and found them very responsive everywhere. It seems to afford one of the new approaches for national [cooperation] and mutual effort. Certainly some of the by-products of the war are remarkable.
With cordial greetings, I am,
Faithfully yours,
Jane Addams [signed]
