Mr. John R. Parker,

April 13, 1917.
My dear Mr. Parker: --
The enclosed letter, addressed to the President, is to go to him early in the week signed by a number of representative citizens all over the Country who want to see our democratic institutions maintained during the war.
We are very anxious to have your name among the signers. The letter will go on plain paper, entirely independent of any organization. We enclose a list of those who are being asked to sign.
Will you be good enough to wire us your answer collect so that we may receive it by Monday night.
Sincerely yours,
Lillian D. Wald [signed]
Jane Addams. [signed]
