Dearest lady Jane A.
May I enclose this check to you for one half the expenses of the dear copy. Dear in its best sense, I mean.
We shall be so happy if all the trouble you have taken for this work will be rewarded in pleasure for weary eyes [page 2] and courage for anxious hearts. Mary Crane was only about fifty when she died leaving her work but half done, she may have thought.
How could she know then that the Golden glory of her motherhood could touch so many lives. Another kind of a "long road" stretching out ahead, isn't it? And unbroken we shall see, at last the design of the [page 3] master.
A friend ↑a German American woman↓ wrote me of a remarkable statement by Prof. Münsterberg. A message to the German Americans, a Christmas Message. May it be also a [prophecy]. I would like to know when it was written. Tis a wonderful legacy, is it not? I will enclose a copy to you and to Mary -- who may not have seen it. I feel it to be so true.
