My dear Mr Ely

May I thank you for sending me your last book which is most interesting.  We have just gone through our local elections here and it brings up the whole question most vividly.

In regard to getting "Democracy and Social Ethics" before the Woman's Clubs, I can think of no direct way, I think that it [illegible] come about from time to time and a letter from the Macmillan's this week expressed satisfaction [with] the sales.  I am lecturing a great deal this winter and [page 2] while I do not mention the book I suppose it does help the Sales.  I wish we might see you oftener, we are expecting a visit from Mr Perris in a few days which we are anticipating with much pleasure.  With cordial regards to Mrs Ely I am always

Faithfully yours

Jane Addams
