My dear Miss Addams:-
Mr. Brett is very glad indeed to learn that your book will be ready for publication in the spring and he has given instructions to have it announced for appearances then. He seems to agree with me that that would be a favorable time for publication. I think the cruelty of the present war and the frequent wars in the past few years have made people more inclined to listen to messages of peace than they were a year or two ago.
I shall be very glad when the time comes to learn about your results with Mr. Lawson and Miss Culver. I hope that we can increase our fund. In particular, I feel that [we] must in some way contrive to get off for two or three semesters, but at present it is not clear how I can accomplish this purpose.
