My dear Mr. Levinson: --

Miss Addams, who is ill and in the hospital, has asked me to write and say to you that she is venturing to hope that you will renew your subscription of $50 which you so kindly gave to Hull-House last year.

Owing to the fact that the House dispensed such a large amount of money last winter for the relief of the unemployed, and in meeting other unusual demands resulting from the general depression, I think we never needed money so badly.

Miss Addams hopes that she is not presuming upon your kindness, and wishes me to assure you that she quite realizes that your former generosity in no way commits you to helping us indefinitely.

Sincerely yours,

Louise deKoven Bowen [signed]
Treasurer
[Salmon] O. Levinson, Esq.,
Chicago, Illinois.
