Biographical Text

Augusta Rosenwald was born to German immigrant parents. She was a member of the South Side Women's Club, volunteered on the Women's Board of Michael Reese Hospital, and was on the national board of the Girls Scouts of America. Rosenwald and her husband donated to Jane Addams and Hull-House. In 1913 Rosenwald was brought before the Supreme Court for tax evasion on stocks in her husband's company, Sears-Roebuck & Co.

Rosenwald married Julius Rosenwald in 1880. They had five children together. Rosenwald died in 1929.
