Biographical Text

Susan Brownell Anthony was a Quaker who was involved in many facets of social activism in the nineteenth and early twentieth century. She is best known for her suffrage crusade. Aside from her suffrage work, Anthony was a staunch advocate for temperance and abolition as well. She had a close working relationship with suffragette Elizabeth Cady Stanton. Anthony died in 1906.
