My dear Mr Ely

You were very good to write me in regard to Prince Kropotkin's safe sailing. It was a very great pleasure to have him for a guest and I feel indebted to you for it. May I ask you to send me his English address. I want to thank him for some books he kindly sent us -- and a Mr [Basset] whom he met and liked, is anxious to call upon him. I am a little alarmed about my three lectures suppose we make them [page 2] two -- "the Interdependence of Political Action and Social Activity" I–II. Perhaps I will be able to think of something better and in that case will write it. I should be grateful for other engagements at $50.00 if you can secure them without too much effort.

Faithfully yours

Jane Addams
