[Miss] Jane Addams,
Chicago, Ill,

Dear Miss Addams,

The Progressive organization did great work in West Va in the late Campaign -- having elected progressive officers, and Legislators most of whom are progressive, we feel that we will be able to enact a workmens Compensation Act, an Act relating to the question of Child Labor, and a Minimum Wage for Women &c. We also expect to have some amendments to our Constitution Submitted -- this is a great field for work. And we invite your help and [Cooperation]. Please let me have any and all such literature And Statistics as you may have on hand pertaining to the Above Subjects; together with Any helpful Suggestions. We are in this fight and do not intend to [lose] the ground already taken here [page 2] mean to go on until we have enacted into law the principle of our platform. Our Legislature Convenes early in January. Can't you Come over and help us -- woman suffrage is Coming in this State. Come over And help us advance the Cause. I am writing you as an aquaintance for the reason that we are [coworkers] in a Great Cause,

Very respectfully yours,
Mike F. Matheny
